Colchester North Station

Working directly with Greater Anglia, Hall Bros completed the removal of old, damaged tarmac in a busy bus lane next to Colchester North Station and replacement with fresh tarmac.

Colchester North Station Bus Lane

Winning the contract against several other companies, Greater Anglia selected us due to our long history of delivering their projects to the highest standards. We created a Work Package Plan prior to commencing with the project, ordering the necessary materials, scheduling workers and supervisors and completing a thorough task briefing.

As the location of the works was to be a frequently used bus lane next to the busy railway station, it was absolutely crucial to ensure the site was safe for our workers and the wider public.

Completed over the course of a week, our team began by removing the old, damaged surface of the tarmac. We then repaired the existing tarmac base for the laying of the fresh mix on top, as well as laying down weed control membrane and connecting drainage to existing pipework in the area.

We then proceeded to lay the base for the tarmac and concrete sand edging, before laying both the first and second tarmac course over the previously damaged area. This was flattened and compacted with a roller, and fresh paint was applied to indicate the bus stop and nearby yellow lines.

After this, all that was left was to remove and safely dispose of all waste material and clean the site for public use. Regular inspections were conducted by site supervisors and our directors to ensure the project remained on schedule and completed to the highest standard.
