When surface flooding to a section of track at Felixstowe Docks had the potential to cause subsidence and threatened to derail trains, Network Rail hired Hall Bros to carry out emergency work.
Our 12-man teams worked around the clock during a weekend shutdown of the docking area to install 170 linear metres of 450mm
track drainage and over 1000m² of Geotextile drainage membrane.
Pressure was on to complete the work within the 41-hour shutdown period, as any overrun would effect not only the rail environment, but would have caused delays unloading the ships and have a knock on effect to the docking and sea routes. Hall Bros completed the work in full before midday on Sunday, 16 hours ahead of schedule.
